Pete Beck

Representative Peter A. Beck was appointed to serve the 67th House District, filling the seat vacated by former Representative Shannon Jones. As a small business owner of nearly 20 years, he is eager to bring his leadership skills and entrepreneurial experience to the Ohio House.

Beck served as mayor and as vice-mayor of the City of Mason from 2007 until his appointment to the Ohio House in October 2009. He also served as a member of Mason City Council from 1997-2005. He has been a partner with Donohoo, Cupp & Beck, CPAs, located in Milford and Mason since 2006. Previously, he was a partner in a local accounting firm in West Chester for 14 years. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Bank Auditor, Certified Financial Services Auditor, and an Anti-Money Laundering Professional.

He is active in many civic activities, including City of Hamilton Business Incubator (BizTech) board of directors; Access Business Development & Finance, Inc., formerly Butler County Certified Development Company; Ohio Society CPAs; and Masonic Lodge 678 and American Legion Post 194. He is a current member and former leadership member of the National Federation of Independent Business and has been awarded various honors, including Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants Public Servant of the Year; Small Business Administration (SBA) National Accounting Advocate of the Year; and SBA Midwestern Region Accounting Advocate of the year. He was a delegate for the White House Conference on Small Business in 1995 and a delegate for the Congressional Small Business Summit from 1996-1998.

Beck served his country during the Vietnam War era as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. As a fiscal and social conservative state representative, he hopes to continue his work practiced as chairman of the Finance Committee and Economic Development Committee of the City of Mason to work for lower taxes, reduce government spending and promote job creation through economic development.

A graduate of the University of South Florida, Beck is happily married with three sons: Bailyn, Captain US Air Force; Evan, University of Cincinnati graduate student; Nicholas, high school student; and a daughter Alyssa, University of Cincinnati undergraduate.

Career: Peter A. Beck, CPA, CIA, CBA, CFSA, AMLP, has been a partner with Donohoo, Cupp & Beck, CPAs since 2006; the firm is based in Milford, Ohio. In 2008, the firm opened a second office in Mason, Ohio. Previously, he was a partner in a local accounting firm in West Chester, Ohio, for 14 years. As an independent CPA, he has performed financial audits, internal control reviews and compliance audits (i.e. BSA/AML, Regulation E).
